Hearing Impairment

Any type of hearing difficulty will lead to communication problems. The greater the impairment, the more the communication will be affected. The most common form of hearing problem in children is caused by glue ear. This affects the child’s ability to hear sounds clearly which in turn can affect their ability to produce sounds and also delay both receptive and expressive language.

If a hearing problem is suspected a hearing test will be indicated. This can usually be arranged by your Health Visitor or GP.

Small Talk Therapists can then assess and remediate accordingly.
